Strong demand for managers and consultants drove up Monster's online employment index for June by eight points, taking it to 170.
The index is up 45 points compared with 12 months ago, but demand fell in ten sectors with service staff suffering the most.
The management and consulting sector grew 35 points pushing year-on-year growth to 68%. The June rise was a direct result of higher demand for white-collar workers in London, the online job board said.
The Monster Employment Index, launched in 2005, is a monthly analysis of millions of online job advertisements from 148 job websites across Europe, including Monster.uk.
"This is a positive sign that UK business may be expanding, and could indicate further growth across all industries in the second half of 2007," Alan Townsend, COO, Monster UK and Ireland, said.
There were increases in the legal, sales and banking, finance, and insurance industries, but despite strong overall growth for the UK, demand declined in ten sectors. HR and healthcare, social work and hospitality and tourism dropped most.
Legislators, senior officials and managers was the fastest growing of the occupations, but service workers and shop and market sales workers slumped 18 points. Strongest growth centred around London, East Anglia and the South East. Scotland and the South West saw the biggest declines.
Education, training and library, research and development, and sales are hiring, but real estate dropped for the third month in a row. Online job ads for skilled agricultural and fishery workers dropped for the second month in a row.
