SNE to lay off 300 Mosinee workers
Wausau Daily Herald
MOSINEE — The Peachtree Cos., owner of SNE Enterprises in Mosinee, will temporarily lay off 300 employees, a company official said this morning.
The employees will be laid off from the wood products line, company spokeswoman Amy Lewis said. Employees will be rehired by seniority when the market picks up, possibly in March or April.
SNE Enterprises manufacturers wood and vinyl window frames and doors.
The company typically lays off employees every year at this time, but this year the layoffs are more dramatic because of the depressed housing market, Lewis said. The company is hiring 100 positions in the vinyl product line, Lewis said, but that line is at a lower pay scale.Earlier this month, Greenheck Fan Corp. in Schofield announced to employees that it would ask for up to 45 volunteers for a temporary layoff.
That company also noted that it was affected by the housing market, among other factors.
