Bentley to Lay Off Factory Workers
Here's evidence even the worlds wealthiest are starting to feel the recent economic downturn. Bentley is laying off up to 300 workers from its Crewe factory as the luxury marque's sales fall. The Crewe factory is responsible for turning out the Continental lineup.
The factory had been running three shifts three days a week to produce the necessary cars, but as sales fall, it will reduce the night shift workers and run two shifts per day, four days per week. Some workers will be moved to the new shift pattern while Bentley is looking for voluntary cutbacks and may be forced to layoff up to 300 workers.
