Rayloc To Lay Off 260

Officials from Rayloc, an automotive part remanufacturing plant based in Hancock, Md., have formally announced their intentions of laying off a large number of employees, including some Fulton County residents.

In a letter delivered to plant employees, Rayloc President Rick Borman stated last Tuesday a total of 260 individuals will be affected by the unexpected layoff set for March 17. Among those will be 235 employees involved in the production process. Others targeted by the decision include a handful of managers, seven clerical staff employees and 16 supervisors.

A small number of salaried individuals as well as an additional 25 employees needed for sorting, replacing and overstocking will be retained at the facility, which is the largest employer in the town of Hancock.

Full-time employees facing the layoff will receive a severance pay or package based on tenure. They must, however, remain with the company until March 17 to receive the monies.

The company is currently scheduled to end rotating electrical production and caliper production on March 15. Other production will cease on March 17.
