Trane said the current La Crosse parts distribution center will close and its Memphis parts operation will be consolidated into a new national parts distribution center.

The new national parts distribution center is being built in the Memphis suburb of Southhaven, Miss. The La Crosse parts distribution center is expected to close in June, Trane spokesman Art Scheskie said Monday.

The layoff notice refers to 128 employees because that is the number now working at the La Crosse parts center, Scheskie said. Employment at the center fluctuates seasonally, and was higher when the original announcement was made in September, he said.

Trane has about 2,350 employees in La Crosse.
