DE layoffs at Chase
Chase Card Services, the credit-card operation of JPMorgan Chase, says it will lay off 140 workers in Wilmington and Newark.
Paul Hartwick, a business affairs specialist with the bank, says the workers were given 60-day notices and they've been offered severance and outplacement services.
Chase says the layoffs, which amount to a little more than 1 percent of Chase Card Services work force, occurred due to rising debt defaults.
Even with the layoffs, Chase has about 6,000 workers in Delaware.
