By Sean B. Pasternak
Jan. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Mosaic Co., North America’s second- largest fertilizer producer, will lay off more than 1,000 workers at its potash mines in Saskatchewan because of low demand, the National Post reported.
The layoffs will affect about 80 percent of the workers at the Colonsay mine and the Esterhazy mine, the newspaper said. The layoffs will be indefinite at Colonsay and last at least two weeks at Esterhazy, the paper said.
Notices were sent to workers of the Plymouth, Minnesota- based company last week, the Post said.
