The ICT Group Inc. plans to lay off 239 people when it shuts down a call center operation in Carrollton on Oct. 7, according to a layoff notice the company filed Thursday with the Texas Workforce Commission.
The Newtown, Pa., company provides outsourced call center services. It employs more than 20,000 sales, service and market research representatives in more than 40 call centers in 12 states and 10 countries, according to ICT’s Web site.
A phone call to the company was not returned on Monday.
In July, ICT Chief Executive John Brennan said the company would continue to reduce its North American production capacity and expand its offshore operations as more U.S. companies outsource their customer management and business processing services. He also said those steps would affect the company’s revenue and earnings growth this year.
ICT, which is publicly traded, reported a net loss of $2.1 million for the second quarter this year, compared with a net profit of $3.9 million for the same period last year. Revenue was flat at $112 million.
