So here we are a week later and something surprising is going on. Let me give you a context.

I've done professional search for thirty years so I've seen great times and I've seen bad times. The past two years have been the worst years for employment in a decade. So, in late December, I posted a blog about what I was seeing going into the new year--another sluggish year in IT employment.

Something seems to have happened between December 27 and today that has changed because the labor market has opened extremely strong. Firms are back calling us for help with staffing. People are going on multiple interviews again. Job seekers are telling me that the phone is ringing again, and not just from recruiters.

So, what's going on? Could it be that the recession is over? Let's hope.

Stay tuned.
